Terms & Conditions

How asking for a seat and paying works, how courses run, who owns the materials and your code, and the limits of what we promise.

last updated October 15, 2026

01Who you're dealing with

These terms cover your use of joinsuffolk.com and any course you take with us. The agreement is between you and SUFFOLK VENTURES LLC, a limited liability company organized under the laws of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, whose address is 851 Corporate Drive, Lexington, KY 40503, United States. In these terms, “we,” “us” and “Suffolk” mean that company, and “you” means the person taking the course.

By asking for a seat, paying for a course or joining a live session, you accept these terms. If you don’t accept them, please don’t enroll, and do write to us if something here worries you.

02Who can enroll

  • You must be 18 or older to take a course.
  • The details you give us must be accurate. We arrange the introductory call and send session links using your email address and phone number, so a typo can mean you miss both.
  • A seat is for one named person. If your employer pays, the seat is still yours alone and can’t be shared with or passed to a coworker.

03Asking for a seat and paying

The form on this site sends us a request. It is not an order, it creates no contract, and nothing is charged.

  • We reply within one business day to set up a call of about thirty minutes.
  • If you and the instructor agree the course fits, we email you a private payment link in US dollars. Sales tax is added where the law requires it and shown before you pay. If your employer is paying, we can send an invoice instead. We hold your seat for seven days while payment is outstanding.
  • The contract begins when your payment clears. We then confirm the class dates, session times and syllabus in writing.
  • Prices on this site may change, but the price we confirm to you in writing is the one you pay for that class.

04How courses run

Courses are taught live over video to a set schedule of 2 sessions a week, each about 90 minutes, with no more than 12 students in a class. All times are in US Eastern Time. Sessions are recorded, and the recordings are shared with the class.

  • If illness or an emergency forces us to move a session, we tell you as early as we can and run it at another time.
  • If too few people enroll for a class to run well, we may postpone it. You can then move to the next class or get a full refund.
  • We don’t guarantee a particular instructor. If we need to change instructors, the new one will be similarly experienced.
  • You need a reasonably recent computer, a steady internet connection and a microphone. If a course needs a paid cloud account or any other paid service, we tell you before you pay.

05Behavior in sessions

People learn best when they can ask a half-formed question without being judged. We expect everyone to be courteous, and we will remove anyone who harasses, threatens or repeatedly disrupts others.

  • Don’t record, screenshot or share a session without our written permission, because other students appear in it.
  • Don’t share your session links or login details.
  • Keep anything you learn about another student’s employer, product or code to yourself.

If we remove you for serious misconduct, your access ends and no refund is due. We only do this as a last resort, and we will warn you clearly first.

06Who owns what

The slides, exercises, recordings, starter code and notes we provide belong to SUFFOLK VENTURES LLC. We give you a personal, non-transferable license to use them for your own learning, including at work, for as long as we keep them available to you.

That license doesn’t let you resell or republish the materials, use them to train an AI model, or use them to teach a course that competes with ours.

Your code is yours. We claim no rights in anything you build, during a course or afterward, and that includes the repository you work in.

07Refunds

Every course has a 30-day refund window, explained in our refund policy, which forms part of these terms. Nothing in these terms takes away any right you have under the consumer protection laws that apply to you.

08What we can't promise

We teach carefully and honestly, but we can’t promise you a job, a promotion, a raise or a fix for a particular problem in your own project.

The courses are educational. They are not professional advice about security, privacy, infrastructure costs or anything else, and you remain responsible for what you put into production, including any cloud bill you run up while practicing.

To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you for any claim relating to a course is limited to the amount you paid for that course, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses such as lost profits or lost data. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by our negligence.

09Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be heard in the state or federal courts located in Fayette County, Kentucky, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring a claim locally. Before any of that, we’d always rather sort a problem out by email.

10Changes to these terms

We update these terms from time to time, and the date at the top of the page shows which version applies. If a change materially affects a course you’ve already enrolled in, we’ll email you about it rather than relying on you to check this page.
